turing san fran!

well.. im really behind so here these are from the last couple of months!

in november my family came out to visit for a week during worlds of flavor.  we did a alot of way fun stuff, and it was really good to have them out here with me!

Deer Hunt

so its deer hunting season.. and im missing out on my favorite time of year :(

fall has always been my favorite with all of the football games, hunting season and the cold wheather starting to show up, and all of the leaves changing colors!

but of course cali is just to cool and there is not much color change, everything is just kinda geenish yellow instead of the pretty red gold and orange, and even the brown! i miss utah!

and its been raining a lot and im just waiting for the snow to start falling and then i just keep remembering that im in california.. and snow just doesnt happen.

i have never craved the snow so bad in my life.

its funny to watch everyone here freak out over the rain and start wearing their uggs and pull out the winter clothes and alex (hes from north dakota) and i are still in flip flops and t shirts.

its crazy!! but its still fun and im loving the rainy gloomy days :)

so braden and laci were kinda competeing to see who was going to get the biggest dear and braden won, by like half a antler haha

here is bradens. he got him right in the shoulders and shattered them both with one shot! pretty awesome if i say so myself. definitely proud of him :)

and here is laci's! she also got him in one shot, not sure where though but im super proud of her too!!

sad that im missing out on everything at home, and that i missed all of bradens football games this season, but im also so excited that i am going to culinary school in california at the best culinary school in the country!

its so insane and its still kinda a surreal experience but i wouldnt trade it for the world!



weekends in st helena

Weekends in St. Helena are BORING! there is nothing to do here because everyone i hang out with us under 21.. and well we are in wine country.. so we tend to make our own fun.

and really that is just sitting in murphy and alex's room being loud and obnoxious!

other than being bored on the weekends, we are in class.  We just got done with our 3rd block of classes!! our first block was Intro to Gastronomy, Culinary Math, and Writing. second was Product Knowledge, and Food Safety. and our third block was Baking Ingredients and Equpiment Technology, and Nutrition.  We werent supposed to have nutrition until later and we were supposed to have principles of design.. but our teach got sick so they had to switch the schedule around a little bit so we had a week of 4 hour nutrition classes. it was rough! But with our first real baking class we were finally able to start getting into the kitchen. we mostly did experiments and chef brown did a lot of demos.. but it was still fun.

our next block starts tomorrow and im kinda nervous but really excited.  we start our culinary skills class with chef tucker, and he is pretty awesome! we are all really excited that we finally get to get out hands dirty :) the best part of this block is that we go to class for a week, then its worlds of flavor and we are having a bunch of japanese chefs come to the school so we dont have school all next week and my mom dad and brother are coming out!! the we have school for two more weeks and then its THANKSGIVING!!!!!! i cant wait. im so excited to go home!

oh and im finally 19! i celebrated my birthday on the 19h and just hung out with friends, it was weird not having my family around, but it was still fun, today is my friend alexs birthday so were partying it up tonight :)

college is pretty bomb so far! i love it and all the people i have met so far and have gotten to know!

rolled ankle, anxiety attack, and killer headaches

Well this was a interesting week!

on monday i had just layed down to take a nap after a couple hours of homework started to put me to sleep

about 2 minutes later i heard jen, heather, and erin in the hall and jen was yelling it hurts hurry!

i was like what the is going on in the hall and then they flew open the door and dropped jen on the bed

she was out running and rolled her ankle while she was running.

she looked to see if her hair looked ok because there is always people in the parking lot, well she didnt see the crator pot hole and stepped right into it.

we called richard, campus sercurity and paramedic, and he came over.

he was asking if anything hurt and i told him just her dignity! haha

so we had to take her to the hospital to make sure everything was ok

after a few hours at the hospital courtney and i left to get food

i told bronte i was coming back down and she asked if i could pick her up. 

we went to gotts and got some food and went back to the hospital

bronte then went in because she felt like she was having a panic attack..

needless to say we were at the hospital for about 4 1/2 hours on monday

tuesday i was horrible pain with the headaches i have been getting all week, it started on saturday and just keeps getting worse

i went and talked to richard and he told me i better go up to the hospital.

they gave me a bunch of meds and i slept for a while

i came back after my head ache went away and slept for another 3 hours..

unfortunatley my headaches arent getting any better so i went back on thursday.

he couldnt tell me anything so he told me I should see the neurologist that works in the hospital

so on the 8th hopefully someone else can tell me whats going on and make the pain go away!

bronte on thursday playing with the cotton swabs and i taught her how to blow up gloves. people from LA are strange and have no fun at the hospital! Nichole and I got pretty good in our CNA class though.

it was the only thing possible!!

the view from the hospital should be a cure in itself.. but it didnt work, but it is pretty breathe taking

my iv from the first visit, upside down though. haha and it was difficult. she had to try a few times to find my vain... it sucked!

hopefully it will get better soon!



chef whites...finally!

We finally got our chef whites and I know feel like i go to school here

its a good feeling, and we dont get stared at like were idiots for walking around in business casual

it was definitely a glorious day and we couldnt wait to try them on!

you cant help but be happy in these. its better than wearing your pj's to school.  they are so comfy its insane!!

hat party and halloween store!

A couple weekends ago Bronte and I went over to guest house, another CIA dorm, and was hanging out with a bunch of people.. well hanging out turned into a hat party and matt decided if you werent wearing a hat you got kicked out.. so we found some hats :)

on monday after class we had to hit the halloween store!

me and bronte went and picked out our costumes and mine ended up being ALOT shorter than it was in the picture so my butt hangs out.. so ill be wearing shorts under mine :)

we got a little side tracked and had to try on all the hats in the store.
